CEPROM Conference at the Conservatory
From July 11-13 in the KNC named after Kurmangazy a seminar of the international organization CEPROM (Commission for the Education of the Professional Musician)was held, with the participation of 14 scientists from the universities of Australia, Britain, Canada, America and Finland.
According to the rector of the Kazakh National Conservatory named afterKurmangazy, Arman Zhudebaev, events of such level have a beneficial effect on the solution of many issues related to music education. "It is a great honor for us to receive the participants of the World Conference CERROM, whose goal is to contribute to a global understanding and cooperation between music educators from around the world. Holding such seminars at the international level will undoubtedly give its positive results and will affect the solution of many problems related to the music education in our country", he said in a welcoming speech.
The aim of the 33rd ISME World Conference 2018 is to foster global understanding and cooperation among the world's music educators, by strengthening ties and sharing ideas about different aspects within music education. The seminar was focused on issues of perception of music by musicians; how professionals make and experience music throughout their lives, acknowledging that perspectives, needs and goals change across the lifespan.
Within the framework of the three-day seminar, the speakers shared observations and conclusions on the following topics:
- A performing career and challenges that musician faces across the lifespan;
- Issues of health and the effect of expected physical changes;
- Sustaining and promoting a performing career;
- Emotional and Financial preparation for retirement.
In addition to the three-day seminar, the participants of the conference had an opportunity to learn about the Kazakh traditional culture - students and undergraduates of the Folk Music Department performed kuis and plays on zhetygen, dombra and folk instruments (saz-syrnay, shan-kobyz, sybyzgy).
After Kazakhstan CEPROM participants plan to hold a conference at the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyov.
