The conservatory hosted a master class by Swiss pianist Joseph-Maurice Weider

April 14, 2023 in the Chamber Hall named after F. Chopin of the Kazakh National Conservatory named after Kurmangazy, a master class was held by Joseph-Maurice Weder, a Swiss concert pianist, laureate of international competitions, Steinway artist.

The pianist held individual consultations for four students of the “Special Piano Department”.

The master class was attended by:

1. 4th year student Nigmedzhanova Zukhra, class of senior teacher Akshpekova L.A.

2. 4th year student Kurmankul Almira, class of senior teacher Dyusembayeva R.S.

3. 4th year student Tulepova Ainel, class of senior teacher Akshpekova L.A.

4. 2nd year master student Omarova Azhar, class of senior teacher Ermekov R.Z.

As part of the master class, work was carried out on works of various genres, including work on a polyphonic work by I.S. Bach, Sonata V.A. Mozart, Hungarian Rhapsody by F. Liszt, and Scherzo #2 by F. Chopin. In the work, Joseph-Maurice listened attentively, in detail and patiently to the performance of each student. The pianist was guided by the feelings of the listener, thereby carefully adjusting the dynamics and control of the sound. Joseph-Maurice asked the participants of the master class a variety of questions that made the atmosphere friendly. Valuable advice was also given to help avoid technical difficulties. While working on the sound, the musician often turned to the listener with questions about the dynamics, which was a very interesting experience. Also, during the performance of the program, questions were often asked about strokes and nuances, it was important for the pianist to assess how accurately students understand certain dynamic and tempo notations.

So, the Swiss pianist Joseph-Maurice, having worked with students, noted the high level of motivation and talent of pianists.

We thank the Swiss pianist Joseph-Maurice Weder for his complete immersion in working with students and his professional attitude. This master class is very useful for both participants and listeners.
