The Musical Community of Kazakhstan Mourns the death of Professor I.B.Lebedev

The choirmaster, music teacher, Professor, first Vice-Rector of the Kazakh National Academy of Music, Igor Borisovich Lebedev passed away.
Igor Borisovich was born in 1937 and lived a long creative life. In 1961, after graduating from Kurmangazy State Conservatory in Almaty, he remained within the walls of his native alma mater.
Having started his teaching career, he later became Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational work of the Conservatory. Having worked in this position for 11 years,
Igor Borisovich in the 80s, developed his choral conducting mastery at P.I.Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory, receiving high marks from leading experts in their field. During 1998 - 2006, Igor Borisovich was the first Vice-Rector of the Kazakh National Academy of Music.
Occupying various posts, Igor Borisovich paid special attention to strengthening the educational and academic discipline, the unity of the academic and educational process. He himself was completely absorbed in the development of choral culture and professional choral education. His numerous students today work in different parts of Kazakhstan and beyond the country. Igor Borisovich was repeatedly awarded with the Certificates of Honor of the Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He was awarded the “Eren enbegi ushіn” Certificate of Honor of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 1994 and
received the title of "Honorary Worker of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan» in 2003, he was awarded the “Y.Altynsarin’s” badge in 2006 and
the «Kurmet” order in 2007.
People are remembered not only by their actions but also by their human qualities. While working at the Academy of Music, Igor Borisovich personally went to the market to buy potatoes for students, and when returned, he peeled and fried them. There was so much in one person: both creative talent and the divine gift of a teacher as well as common respect for the people around him. The team of Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory, colleagues and friends condole with the family and friends of Igor Borisovich.
