Workshops by Slovak Colleagues Held at the Conservatory

From April 7 to 11, 2025, the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory hosted lectures, workshops, and academic events as part of the Erasmus+ program, featuring guest professors from a partner university – the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia: Peter Martinček and Marián Zavarský.
On April 7 and 8, M. Zavarský and P. Martinček served as jury members for the Small and Grand Republican Student Composition Olympiads. The participants presented musical works showcasing originality and creative thinking. The jury noted the high level of student preparation.
On April 8, musicologist, PhD, Deputy Dean for Research and International Relations, and Assistant Professor of the Music Theory Department at the Academy, P. Martinček, took part in the round table discussion “Source – Research – Society: Source Studies in Contemporary Musicology,” organized by the Musicology and Composition Department. In his presentation titled “Music of the Classical Period in Slovakia: Collection of the Révai Noble Family” he shared unique materials on the musical heritage of the Classical era in Slovakia and emphasized the importance of source studies in the development of modern musicology. On April 9, he gave a lecture titled “Thematic Catalogs as Research Tools: Exploring Their Impact on Musicology”, which sparked a lively response among teaching staff and students. On April 11, P. Martinček delivered a presentation on “Music and National Identity in Central Europe: Between the East and the West” as part of the International Conference “Musical Turcology Today: Problems and Prospects.”
On April 10, composer, Doctor of Arts, and Assistant Professor of the Composition and Conducting Department at the Academy, M. Zavarský, conducted a workshop on “From Silence to Art – Approaches in Electroacoustics, Sound Design and Multimedia”. He shared modern methods of working with digital sound, multimedia technologies and spatial forms of composition.
The visit of the Slovak colleagues became an important event in the life of the Conservatory and gave a new impetus to the development of international academic and creative cooperation.
