What is Abai-Vern?

The Abai-Verne Scholarship Program is a joint program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic.

Within the framework of this Program, which provides 30 scholarships for 2-year undergraduates studying at Kazakhstani universities and 5 scholarships for doctoral students preparing a dissertation under joint scientific supervision, a competition is announced without limiting the choice of specialties.

Conditions of participation in the competition for a scholarship under the Master's degree program:

·         kazakh citizenship;

·         no age restrictions;

·         study in the second year of a master's degree in one of Kazakhstan's higher educational institutions at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year;

·         have an invitation/confirmation of admission to one of the higher educational institutions of France for the Master 1 or Master 2 program in France;

·         the advantage is given to undergraduates who study in the framework of dual degree programs..

Conditions of participation in the competition for a scholarship under the doctoral program:

·         kazakh citizenship;

·         no age restrictions;

·         be a 1st-year doctoral student in one of Kazakhstan's higher educational institutions at the beginning of the 2023-2024 academic year, preparing a dissertation under joint scientific supervision;

·         have an invitation/confirmation of admission to one of the higher educational institutions of France for the doctoral program of the 1st year of study.

The scholarship holder of the Abai-Vern program will receive:

·         monthly stipend for accommodation, which is 800 euros per month for 10 months (from September to June) for undergraduates and 1200 euros monthly for 6 months per year for 3 years for doctoral students (at the rate of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the time the university issued the order);

·         The French Government's Social Security Scholarship (BCS), which provides the following benefits:

·         exemption from paying the registration fee at public universities subordinate to the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of the French Republic;

·         Exemption from the Annual Student Fee (CVEC);

·         reimbursement of additional insurance costs in the amount of 264 euros per year;

·         Assistance in finding accommodation in university dormitories of the Regional Center for Universities and Schools (CROUS);

·         discounted rates for participation in cultural events organized by Campus France;

·         free housing guarantee "VISALE– Visa for housing and work";

·         Housing assistance from the Family Allowance Fund (CAF);

·         free attachment to the general French social insurance system;

·         provision of a free long-term student visa by the French Embassy in Kazakhstan.
