Zhaniya Aubakirova is the People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Laureate of the State Prize of Peace and Progress of the First President of the Republic of Kazahstan, the Laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The Cavalier of the Order of Arts and Letters of France, the Holder of the Award of European Union of Arts of Gustav Mahler, the Holder of a II degree Order of Catherine the Great, the Holder of the Polish awards of Distinguished Services to Polish Culture and the Gold Cross of Merit and winner of an Independent "Platinum Tarlan" Award.

Since 1997 -  the rector of Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory. Over the years, the conservatory became a leading musical institution of the country as well as cultural and educational center of the Republic.

Since 2001, the university was assigned a "National" status among other nine largest universities in the country. The budget financing repeatedly increased,  the material resources are improved, modern technical means of training are used in educational process.

Since 2007, the Conservatory wins first place in the General rating of Higher education institutions of Kazakhstan, and also in the ratings of the Independent agencies on accreditation and ratings.

Partners of the Conservatory are 52 musical educational institutions and the organizations of Europe, Asia, the USA and CIS countries. The Conservatory is a member of the International association "Music of the Turkic People", International Council for Traditional Music (ICTM), and European Seminar in Ethnomusicology (ESEM).

With the assistance of the state and sponsors Zhaniya Aubakirova initiated many projects, international and national festivals, contests, programs, many of which have become traditional:


- International competition of pianists in Almaty;

- International program "Rising stars";

- International festival of master classes;

- International festival "Dedication to a Grand Piano";

- International festival of modern music "Nauryz-XXI";

- International festival of classical music "Almaty International Piano Festival";

- Youth club connoisseurs of classical music;

- Traditional music competition "Asyl Mura";

- Karshygi Akhmedyarov competition of virtuoso dombyra players;

- Republican competition of young musicians "Music Forum Kazakhstan" and others.

 

Z. Y. Aubakirova - the initiator of Development Strategy of music education in the Republic of Kazakhstan aimed at improvement and modernization of system of the higher professional music education (in the example of Kurmangazy KNK) and systems of pre-university music education. Furthermore, it aims at enhancing Kazakhstan's image of music education at the international level.

Educational process in the Conservatory is conducted on the basis of the principles of Bologna Process, on the international credit system of training. 

Since 2007, the Conservatory offers bachelor and master's degree in "Art - Management".

In 2007 the Conservatory founded Experimental School Studio Art, representing new model of the art school which gives education in all types of art, bringing up both professionals and art enthusiasts.

Since 2010, the Conservatory is successfully operating the radio "Klassika.kz", which simultaneously broadcasts on the FM-frequency of Almaty, Astana, Aktau. This creative project is a unique collaboration of the university and media holdings "Khabar", "Kazakhstan".

Since 2010, due to a special program of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan international visiting professors were provided with conditions for the implementation of an intensive cooperation, exchange programs with leading universities and conservatories of Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Poland, South Korea, China, Malaysia, USA.

Overseas performances of the Conservatory collectives in recent years were organized in these major cities and famous halls of the world: Konzerthaus (Germany), Barbican Hall, (United Kingdom), Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall (USA), Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre and the Grand hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (Russia), Keimyung Art Center (South Korea) and many others.

In 1998 at the initiative of Zhaniya  Aubakirova the Musical agency "Klassika"  was organized. It has conducted a set of the international projects, concerts, festivals, competitions and published books, audio disks, documentaries about the Kazakhstan performers within two decades. Zhaniya Aubakirova's school is among those carried-out educational projects. The school was founded in 1994, it is a non-governmental educational institution that operates according to modern educational methods and technologies.

Zhaniya Aubakirova has graduated from Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory  in the class of professor Lev Vlasenko. She won the Grand Prix of The Marguerite Long International Piano Competition and a special prize of the same Competition, “For the Best Performance of Contemporary French Composers' Works” in 1983.  In addition, she won the Grand Prix International Competition of Chamber Ensembles of The Long-Thibaud Competition in 1985.

Zhaniya Aubakirova's  recitals and performances with famous orchestras which promote world music and classical works of Kazakh composers are regularly held in Kazakhstan, in the largest concert halls of France, England, Germany, Japan, Russia, Poland, Italy, USA, Israel, Greece, and Hungary. The pianist has performed in halls - Salle Pleyel, Salle Gaveau, Barbican Hall, Wigmore Hall, Vigoda Hall, Seoul's Arts Center, Keimyung Art Center, Berlin Philarmoniker, Konzerhause, Kennedy Centre, Carnegie Hall, Great Hall of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Saint-Petersburg Philharmonic, and the Moscow House of Music.

Jania Aubakirova collaborated with many musicians and music collectives such as Martha Argerich, Mikhail Pletnev, Valery Gergiev, Alexander Sladkovsky, Alexander Vedernikov, Denis Shapovalov, Marat Bisengaliev, Alexander Trostyanskiy, Christophe Mangou, the Quartet «Danel», Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of French Radio,  Symphony Orchestra of India, English Chamber Orchestra and others.
